Proving the Existence of God? Or Believing?

“There is no external, incontrovertible proof of the existence of God. More importantly, the logic of verifiability makes God into just another object that can be believed to exist or not exist, on a par with created things like trees and people. But God, in proper religious thinking, is radically other than any existing thing. God is not another thing but the foundation of everything, the light of everything, the life of everything. It’s like C.S. Lewis writes in The Weight of Glory: ‘I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen, not only because I see it but because by it I see everything else.’”   (Peter Bouteneff, Sweeter than Honey: Orthodox Thinking on Dogma and Truth, pgs. 31-32)
