According to Wikipedia, “Covenant House is the largest privately funded agency in the Americas providing shelter, food, immediate crisis care, and an array of other services to homeless and runaway youth.” Covenant House says many of these girls and boys were victims of sex trafficking and subjected to abuse.
They have started a petition campaign to get Backpage.com to stop helping child sex traffickers. According to the Covenant House Webpage:
The Village Voice–operated website Backpage.com is doing the unthinkable—they are earning money from photo advertisements posted by pimps and traffickers that sell underage girls for sex.
Despite the cash it brings them, Backpage.com claims they have no responsibility for the ad content or the horrors these victims experience when they are sold for sex.
