The Angelic Voice of Children

“The brothers of Abba Poemen said to him:

‘Let us go away from this place, for the monasteries of this place are disturbing us and we are losing our souls. Here too the children’s crying prevents us from hesychia.’

Abba Poemaen said to them:

‘You want to get away from here because of the angels’ voices?’ ”

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”  (Matthew 19:14)

  1. Very beautiful, “Let the Little Children Come Unto Me”, should always be first as Jesus said (Luke 18:16). I remember a story of a priest who was given a censor with bells on in memory of a young child who died, so that sound of the bells would permeate the church sanctuary as ‘the voices of little children’ had done and this child’s voice could be heard and remembered.
